Importance of Mainline Sewer Repair

Mainline sewer line repair is important because of what these sewer lines do. A mainline is the sewer pipe that goes from your home or business to either a septic tank or a city connection. This is also the sewer line that handles unwanted water from all your drains. Anything that affects the performance of a mainline sewer pipe can contribute to related drain problems and property damage.

Benefits of Proper Sewer Maintenance

Mainline sewer line replacement or repair isn't entirely preventable, but you can reduce your risk of having unexpected problems with proper maintenance. We can help you achieve this goal with regular inspections and cleanings. Since mainlines are heavily used, maintenance service once or twice a year is recommended.

Signs You Need Mainline Sewer Repair or Replacement

Given the prominence of mainline sewer water infiltration pipes, there are some telltale signs that suggest it's time to contact us about sewer repair services. These include:

  • Unusual wet/soggy spots on exterior surfaces
  • Drain-related problems with multiple drains
  • Strong, lingering, or noticeable sewer odors
  • Sinkholes and/or foundation damage
  • Dampness or wetness in areas where mainlines enter your home or business

The Mainline Sewer Repair Process

Cured-in-place piping, or CIPP, is the process we use for mainline sewer pipe line repair. It's an internal repair process done with a flexible, resin-filled tube. This tube is inserted into the pipe after it's coated. After a few hours, the coating solidifies and the tube is removed. The final result is a fully restored mainline sewer pipe.

CIPP lining is one of several pipe rehabilitation methods referred to as Trenchless Technologies. It is an approved and preferred method to rehabilitate cracked, broken and failed sanitary or storm sewer pipes as well as pipe collapse. Lining is less expensive and more efficient than traditional open-cut replacement methods, normally installed with little or no surface disruption. The CIPP lining process can be used to rehabilitate virtually any type of pipe.

Mainline Sewer Repair FAQs

Oftentimes, yes, but not always. If the sewer line is severely damaged, for instance, or made of materials that tend to be costly to maintain, traditional repair or replacement methods may be more appropriate.
