Position Summary:
The Jet/Vac Truck Operator is responsible for operating high-pressure jetting and vacuum equipment to clean and maintain sanitary sewer and stormwater systems. This position plays a critical role in preventative maintenance, emergency response, and supporting CCTV inspection and rehabilitation operations. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, mechanically inclined, and experienced in heavy equipment operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operate combination jet/vac trucks to clean sewer lines, storm drains, manholes, and catch basins.
- Perform high-pressure water jetting to remove debris, grease, roots, and blockages.
- Utilize vacuum systems to remove solids, sludge, and debris from structures.
- Set up and maintain proper traffic control in accordance with safety standards.
- Follow OSHA regulations, confined space entry procedures, and company safety policies.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment.
- Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on jet/vac equipment.
- Complete daily work logs, maintenance reports, and service documentation.
- Assist CCTV crews and other field personnel as needed.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Valid driver’s license required; CDL (Class B or higher) preferred.
- 2+ years’ experience operating jet/vac truck.
- Successfully pass Background check and Driving Record
- NASSCO PACP certification preferred or ability to obtain within 6 months.
- Ability to lift 75+ lbs and work in physically demanding environments.
- Willingness to work overtime and respond to emergency calls when necessary.
Preferred Skills:
- Knowledge of municipal sewer systems and underground utilities.
- Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Experience with confined space entry and traffic control certification.
Work Environment:
Outdoor field environment with exposure to wastewater, varying weather conditions, traffic, and heavy equipment operations.
